The Copa America and Euro finals are over, but international soccer isn't finished yet: Men's and women's games will be prominently featured at the Paris Olympics 2024.
Men's soccer will feature an age restriction instituted to maintain the amateur nature of the competition. FIFA mandates that Olympic teams are primarily composed of players under age 23, although each squad is allowed up to three overage players. The rule aims to provide a platform for young talent to gain international experience while ensuring the competition remains highly competitive.
For that reason, you won't see players like Lionel Messi, Vinicius Jr. or Kylian Mbappé. The age restriction turned the men's Olympic soccer tournament into a showcase for emerging stars rather than established professionals.
On the women's side? Expect to see all of the game's top stars.
Here's how and when you can catch all the action.

Players to Watch
Men's Soccer
- Julian Alvarez (Argentina, Manchester City): Alvarez is 24, but he will be one of the highlights in Paris. The young star plays for both the World Cup champion Argentina as well as Premier League powerhouse Manchester City.
- Rayan Cherki (France, Lyon): Cherki is celebrated for his creativity and flair for Lyon, and the 20-year-old has been described by scouts as "mesmerizing."
- Pau Cubarsi (Spain, Barcelona): Few (if any) countries develop their talent better than Spain, and Cubarsi looks like the country's next great center back at just 17 years old.
- Gaga Slonina (USA, Chelsea): The United States is coming off an awful showing at the Copa America, but Slonina could offer some hope for the future as the team's goalie. Slonina, who is 20, currently plays for Chelsea's Under-21s in the Premier League.
Women's Soccer
Rose Lavelle scores in her second straight game. That's four goals in the last six for Gotham. I'd say that's fine form to head to the Olympics with pic.twitter.com/4hWBqI8hd6
— Megan Swanick (@Meg_Swanick) July 7, 2024- Aitana Bonmati (Spain, Barcelona): Bonmati is one of the world's most dangerous midfielders who can be equally dangerous as a striker for Spain, the No. 1 team in the world.
- Rose Lavelle (USA, NJ/NY Gotham): Lavelle has been injury-prone at times, but at her best, the 29-year-old midfielder is a dangerous scorer for the Americans.
- Alexandra Popp (Germany, Wolfsburg): Popp is the captain of the No. 4-ranked German national team and a forward for VfL Wolfsburg. A dangerous goal-scorer, Popp has been named Germany's Woman Footballer of the Year multiple times.
- Kadidiatou Diani (France, Lyon): Diani plays forward for Lyon and the No. 2 French national team. Known for her speed, technical skills and goal-scoring ability, Diani is a key player both domestically and internationally.
