Singer-songwriter Jay Sean had actor Priyanka Chopra in splits after he sang the popular track from Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol's Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna. Why, you ask? It's because the singer sang the Bollywood hit with a twist i.e. by singing the English translations of the Hindi lyrics with the original tune. Hence, instead of singing "Ye kudiyaan nashe di pudiyaan, ye munde gali de gunde", Jay Sean sang the literal translation which went: "These girls are packets of intoxication, these guys are the alley's gangsters." When it came to "Mehndi laga ke rakhna, doli saja ke rakhna, lene tujhe o gori, aayenge tere sajna", the English translation went: "Apply henna on your hands, decorate your doli (palanquin). To take away 'O beautiful', Your lover will come."
The singer wrote in the caption: "Not quite the same innit.ï¸Â I deeply apologize if I have ruined this song for ur forever. However I will continue to do these coz they give me jokes." Priyanka Chopra took to the comments section to share her reaction and Jay Sean responded to her comment with laughing emojis. The singer and Barfi actress have been friends for a long time and were even seen celebrating Diwali together in 2016.
