Applications for the 2024 Lanai axis deer hunting season will be available beginning Sept. 18, the state Department of Land and Natural Resources announced.
The season will consist of four hunts:
• Archery hunt, Feb. 7-11, 14-18, 21-25 and Feb. 28-March 3.
• Youth hunt, March 8-10.
• Muzzleloader hunt, March 15-17.
• General rifle hunt, 11 consecutive weekends (Friday to Sunday) from March 22 to June 2.
Hunters can apply by visiting gohunthawaii.ehawaii.gov and clicking on “Apply for Hunts.” A $10 application fee will be assessed for each person applying.
All participating hunters must purchase an axis deer tag either online or at the Lanai hunter check-in station. Each tag costs $20 for Hawaii residents and $125 for non-Hawaii residents. Tag fees for youths participating in the youth-only hunt will be waived. To purchase tags, visit gohunthawaii.ehawaii.gov.
Bag limits for the 2024 season are two axis deer — one doe and one of either sex.
