Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 3 all but confirms a popular Reva origin theory based on The Third Sister's anger after recognizing the Jedi symbol.

Warning! SPOILERS for Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 3.

The Third Sister's mysterious origin sparked plenty of theories about her past, and Reva's anger upon seeing the Jedi symbol in Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 3 teases the truth. The Star Wars canon has included several different Inquisitors in the past, revealing that Darth Vader's Jedi hunters are actually former light side Force users. Obi-Wan Kenobi showcases the first appearance of Moses Ingram's Reva (or Third Sister), and the show has dropped a few intriguing teases of her origin as she continues hunting Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) in the Disney+ series.

After nearly capturing Kenobi on Daiyu in episode 2, Reva's search for the Jedi Master brings her, some fellow Inquisitors, and Darth Vader to Mapuzo. Obi-Wan and a young Leia Organa traverse the mining world in hopes of finding safe passage back to Alderaan, but it doesn't take long for the Jedi to be discovered. Thankfully, they are rescued by an undercover Imperial officer named Tala, who is part of a secret operation to safely smuggle Jedi across the galaxy through a series of tunnels on the mining planet. Darth Vader's arrival and sensing his former master change the plan, as Kenobi leaves Tala and Leia to draw attention to him.

The Jedi tunnel in Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 3 proves to be a location filled with more details about the show's story and the Star Wars universe. This ranges from revealing the existence of three new Jedi in the franchise's canon to confirming that Quinlan Vos is alive and helping protect other Jedi. These details are featured through markings and writing on the wall of the Jedi tunnel. While Obi-Wan is delighted by what he sees, the mood is quite different for Reva when she discovers the passageway. This includes Reva becoming angry after seeing a Jedi symbol, and it is in this moment that Obi-Wan Kenobi all but confirms a popular theory about the Third Sister's origin.

What The Symbol In The Secret Jedi Tunnel Means

The symbol in Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 3's Jedi tunnel is the crest of the Jedi Order. The symbol dates back to the High Republic when the Jedi were the most powerful and remained part of the order through the rise of the Galactic Empire. The Jedi symbol is designed to look like a winged sunrise with a lightsaber positioned in the center. It has been featured throughout the Star Wars canon as a way to illustrate the Jedi Order's power. For the purposes of Obi-Wan Kenobi's Jedi tunnel, the appearance of the symbol is most likely used to remind the Jedi passing through Mapuzo of the ideals they were trained in.

While the Jedi Order symbol might inspire hope in the Jedi who pass through Mapuzo's underground transport system, it elicits a very different emotion from Reva. She is almost drawn to it at first, as Reva, The Third Sister, reaches out to the symbol but pulls away before she actually touches it. Although she tries to hold her emotions in, Reva's anger gets the best of her after this as she knocks down various items in the Jedi tunnel. Her hatred of the Jedi Order and relentless pursuit of Obi-Wan makes sense with that in mind, but her rage also points to those theories about her connection to Order 66 being true.

Why Reva's Order 66 Survivor Theory Just Got More Likely

Immediately after Obi-Wan Kenobi debuted on Disney+, theories began to pop up about Reva's origin secretly being shown in the first scene. The series opened with a flashback to Order 66 and a new Jedi Master trying to protect a group of younglings from the clone troopers fulfilling Palpatine's commands. It has been theorized that Reva survived Order 66 and is one of the younglings. The implication is that she either escaped the onslaught only to join the Inquisitors once she was discovered or that she was lured to the dark side at this young age. These types of explanations can help explain why Reva is so angry after seeing the Jedi Order symbol.

For a reason that has yet to be revealed, Reva chose to switch sides and make it her life mission to hunt Jedi. Her reaction to the Jedi Order symbol could indicate that there is a very personal reason why she turned to the dark side and could believe that the Jedi failed her and others. It could also be read that Reva's anger is more at herself for feeling the pull to the light and the Jedi, so the reaction is frustration over her desire and a sign that she still struggles with her Jedi killing Inquisitor responsibilities - even if she's relentlessly pursuing Obi-Wan and willing to endanger a child's life to do so. In any case, Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 3 further teases Reva is an Order 66 survivor thanks to this moment.
