Boise, Idaho (CBS2) - A Boise Police Officer chased and shot a suspect holding a firearm and ignoring their commands to stop. That’s according to a news release from Boise Police.
The release says Police were investigating a suspicious vehicle around 2 AM Saturday near 5th and Main as part of an ongoing investigation.
Officers tried to talk to the three people in the vehicle. One person took off toward Idaho Street holding a firearm. Officers chased the suspect and ordered the person to stop. The suspect didn’t follow the orders. A Boise Police Officer shot the suspect. That suspect was hit. Ada County Paramedics took the suspect to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. A firearm was recovered next to the suspect. No charges have been filed.
The Officer who shot the suspect will be placed on administrative leave, which is policy.
One person was arrested on a narcotics-related charge. The other was released at the scene.
The Ada County Critical Incident Task Force led by the Ada County Sheriff's Office is investigating this critical incident. The CITF investigation is ongoing and detectives ask anyone who witnessed the critical incident to call Ada County Dispatch at 208-377-6790.
